The El Mirage Police Department Receives Grant from Governor’s Office of Highway Safety

[El Mirage, AZ November 7, 2019] – The City of El Mirage Police Department received a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to fund traffic related enforcement projects for FY2019/2020. The department received approximately $39,000 to fund El Mirage officer participation in DUI Task Force events during the next year. Police agencies from around the Phoenix area join efforts to provide saturated DUI patrols to combat the prevalence of impaired driving throughout the year. This grant will also fund PBT’s (Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic Chemicals) and AccuVienFinder detection equipment. An additional $27,000 was awarded for non-DUI related traffic enforcement activities. This included the purchase of Lidars and Tint Meters.

The El Mirage Police Department is thankful to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for awarding these grants. This funding is vital toward improving traffic safety on city streets.
