“By Appointment Only” Status Extended Until Further Notice for City Facilities
[El Mirage, AZ Jan. 12, 2021] – The City of El Mirage has extended its “by appointment only” status for City facilities until further notice, in response to the continued rise of COVID-19 cases throughout Maricopa County.
City facility lobbies will remain open to members of the public by appointment only and closed to walk-in traffic. The City will continue to provide essential public safety services. This is an extension of the public notice issued November 30 and updated January 4, and the affected public service areas are provided below by department.
The announcement affects City Hall and scheduled public meetings, police and fire department administration buildings, customer service lobby and City-controlled public gathering areas. In addition, employees who are able have been asked to telework. City departments will continue to provide many services remotely. The City will continue to require employees who have contact with the public to wear masks and practice social distancing while encouraging frequent hand washing.
Public Works Department
Effective: Until Further Notice
Green spaces, open areas, and walking paths will remain open. Areas that remain closed include: City-controlled gathering areas at public parks, restrooms, field rentals, facility rentals, private rentals, dog parks, park ramadas, and basketball courts. The Customer Services Division lobby will also be closed at this time. Utility customers may conduct business by phone at: 623-933-1228, e-mail: utilities@elmirageaz.gov or website: www.elmirageaz.gov. Utility service disconnections remain suspended until further notice.
City Council & Public Meetings
The scheduled Council meetings and other public meetings will be held telephonically with virtual public access available and in compliance with the state Open Meeting Law. For more information on how members of the public may virtually attend the Council meetings, please visit www.elmirageaz.gov “Agendas & Minutes" or download the agenda on the website calendar where you will also find a link to join the meeting or to call into the meeting. Public Safety
Public safety personnel have been trained and equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and will continue to serve the public with the usual high standard of response and protection.
The El Mirage Police Department administrative building including the lobby will be closed for walk-in service. Please call the police non-emergency number listed below to schedule an appointment for service such as release of property or towed vehicles. Public records release is available by emailing pdrecords@elmirageaz.gov or at: https://www.elmirageaz.gov/ or by phone (623) 500-3000. Callers should leave a message when prompted and will be called back within one business day.
The El Mirage Fire Department administrative building including the lobby will be closed for walk-in service. Please call the fire department’s administrative number below to schedule an appointment. The car seat and passenger safety program will continue by appointment only.

Other Services
El Mirage Senior Center remains closed until further notice. Food insecurity programs for senior citizens will remain operational.
